After completing a four-year training in Biodynamic & Integrative Psychotherapy, my approach is both humanistic and body-based.This means that I work with each person who comes to therapy in a way that meets their own individual needs. Leading with empathy for each person's own unique journey, I offer a non-judgemental space where any issue can be explored together. My passion in this work lies in helping clients to re-establish a connection to themselves, to find their own inner resources, and to reclaim their own unique expression of life. I primarily do this work by helping each person to connect to their own body, to use it as a supportive ally, and to re-establish their own innate sense of wellness.

Body Psychotherapy (Somatic Psychotherapy)

Low-Cost Therapy

As a Somatic Psychotherapist, I work differently to traditional talk therapy. In a session with me, we also listen closely to what the body has to say. We do this by becoming aware of the subtle feelings, sensations, and urges felt in the body. By bringing awareness to the body, we begin to give it a voice, when we can listen to this voice, we start to hear our innate wisdom. With this approach, we can access deeper parts of ourselves and come into contact with our innate sense of wellness. As a Psychotherapist, I am trained in Psychoanalytic theory, CBT, and to hold space for complex issues including anxiety, depression, and trauma. However, as a Body-Psychotherapist, I am also trained in working with the body as an ally toward healing. By using somatic awareness and somatic relational skills, together we find creative and embodied ways to find resources, healing, and joy in the body.I also offer Biodynamic Massage which aims to support the bodies own innate wisdom and healing ability through touch. In a Biodynamic Massage session, we talk a little like a regular therapy session, and then we work with the body through touch. By meeting the body and person where they are in that present moment, The body begins to find its own emotional rhythm, sense of ease and groundedness, and can also feel resourced and energised.Due to various environmental and social issues, not everyone can afford therapy every week. To make therapy more accessible to those who need it, I also offer Low-Cost Therapy to some clients. If this is something you need, please Get in touch.
Tell me More about body-psychotherapy
Body-Psychotherapy also known as Somatic Psychotherapy, is a school of Psychotherapy that acknowledges the connection between the mind and body. For example, When we're stressed, our muscles are tense, and sometimes we get headaches and tightness around the face and jaws. In Body-Psychotherapy, we use these signals from the body to help us understand what might be happening underneath, we listen to hear what is the story the body is trying to tell us. In Body-Psychotherapy we understand that while the brain holds value in thought and reason, the body holds feeling and wisdom. Much of the psychological unrest felt by people suffering emotionally is due to the disconnect between mind and body, as our culture supports us to 'just get on with things', we instead look at what we need to feel well.
